Reconstruction is an important aspect of Cancer surgery. Surgery is the mainstay of treatment for Head & Neck and Breast Cancers. It produces cosmetic and functional deficits. Surgery for head & neck cancers produce difficulty in speech and swallowing and affects the patient’s ability to interact socially. The aim of reconstructive surgery is restoration of form and function. In head & neck cancers we aim for aesthetics, restoration of contour, facial expression and oral competence and functional rehabilitation of speech, mastication and deglutition. The goal of breast reconstruction is to restore one or both breasts to near normal shape, appearance, symmetry and size following breast conserving surgery or mastectomy
